Ośrodek Badań Interdyscyplinarnych

 

przy Wydziale Filozoficznym – Uniwersytet Papieski Jana Pawła II w Krakowie

W swej krakowskiej rezydencji ks. kard. Karol Wojtyła rozwijał dialog między nauką a myślą chrześcijańską. Po konklawe w 1978 roku, ks. Michał Heller i ks. Józef Życiński organizowali Konwersatoria Interdyscyplinarne, kontynuując w ten sposób krakowską tradycję dialogu między nauką a wiarą. Cieszące się dużym zainteresowaniem Konwersatoria dały początek najpierw Ośrodkowi Studiów Interdyscyplinarnych (Center for Interdisciplinary Studies), a następnie Ośrodkowi Badań Interdyscyplinarnych. OBI jest instytucją badawczo-dydaktyczną, która prowadzi badania naukowe w wielu dziedzinach. Główne kierunki działalności:

– filozofia przyrody; filozofia nauki; historia nauki; filozofia matematyki; filozofia fizyki; teoria względności; teoria kwantów; kosmologia relatywistyczna; pogranicza filozofii, teologii i nauk przyrodniczych; relacja nauka-wiara

– szkolenie specjalistów w wyżej wymienionych dziedzinach przez: wykłady; seminaria; angażowanie młodych naukowców do konkretnych prac badawczych; inne zajęcia uniwersyteckie

– organizacja krajowych i międzynarodowych sympozjów i zjazdów naukowych związanych z wyżej wymienionymi dziedzinami

– prowadzenie działalności wydawniczej

Przy takim szerokim kręgu zagadnień nie mogły nie pojawić się problemy z dziedziny wzajemnych relacji między nauką a teologią. Historia nauki jest pełna tego rodzaju odniesień. Ale niezależnie od tych historycznych uwarunkowań członkowie OBI interesowali się tymi zagadnieniami, choćby ze względu na usytuowanie OBI przy uczelni teologicznej. Zagadnienia z kręgu „nauka a teologia” stały się, obok filozofii w nauce, drugim wiodącym tematem działalności OBI.

CENTRUM KOPERNIKA BADAŃ INTERDYSCYPLINARNYCH

Centrum jest instytucją międzyuczelnianą (wspólną jednostką naukową Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego oraz Papieskiego Uniwersytetu Jana Pawła II). Uroczysta inauguracja Centrum Kopernika odbyła się w dniu 2 października 2008 roku w Collegium Maius UJ.  Idea Centrum powstała na przedłużeniu działalności Ośrodka Badań Interdyscyplinarnych. Pojawiła się konieczność wprowadzenia bardziej zorganizowanych grup badawczych, a także konieczność większego zinstytucjonalizowania dotychczasowej działalności. Pierwsze, wyraźne sugestie idące w kierunku stworzenia bardziej formalnego ośrodka pojawiły się ze strony Fundacji Templetona, a zwłaszcza Charlesa Harpera, zajmującego wówczas ważną pozycję w tej Fundacji. Jeszcze podczas swoich studiów doktoranckich w Cambridge w Wielkiej Brytanii, Harper przyjechał do Krakowa i zapoznał się z działalnością OBI. Potem, gdy związał się z Fundacją Templetona, doszedł do wniosku, że krakowski ośrodek powinien rozszerzyć swoją działalność zagraniczną na kraje europy wschodniej i centralnej. Członkowie OBI uważali wówczas, że pomysł ten wykracza poza ich organizacyjne możliwości, ale idea co jakiś czas powracała. O ile zagadnieniami ‘nauka a wiara’ interesuje się przede wszystkim Fundacja Templetona, o tyle dla OBI zagadnienia te są tylko jednym z elementów szerzej rozumianej interdyscyplinarności i w tym kierunku zmierzały przemyślenia rozszerzenia działalności OBI. Komisja „Fides et Ratio” Polskiej Akademii Umiejętności

Długofalowym celem prac Komisji jest zbadanie szeroko rozumianego kontekstu intelektualnego XX wieku, w jakim kształtowały się poglądy Jana Pawła II na relacje pomiędzy chrześcijańską fides a uniwersalną ratio w rozumieniu świata i człowieka. Ponieważ myśl Jana Pawła II stanowi w przekonaniu członków Komisji istotny wkład w sytuację intelektualną zarówno współczesnego Kościoła, jak i świata, dlatego uznano za celowe krytyczne przebadanie związków tej myśli z myślą XX wieku.

Każda epoka wyznacza odmienne możliwości realizacji antycznej w swym pochodzeniu zasady fides querens intellectum – wiary poszukującej zrozumienia. W przekonaniu inicjatorów projektu komisji „Fides et ratio” dzieło intelektualne Jana Pawła II było tej zasadzie wierne. Specyficzna artykulacja tej zasady w myśli Jana Pawła II – zarówno w kwestii stawianych problemów, jak i proponowanych rozwiązań – zależna była w dużej mierze nie tylko od tradycyjnych nurtów myśli chrześcijańskiej, lecz także, a może nawet przede wszystkim, od nowych wyzwań intelektualnych, jakie pojawiły się na gruncie dwudziestowiecznych nauk empirycznych i humanistycznych. Celem, jaki Komisja stawia przed sobą, jest krytyczne zbadanie tych wyzwań i ich wpływu na myśl Jana Pawła II, a także próba oceny, w jakim stopniu myśl ta potrafiła sprostać tym wyzwaniom.

Ze względu na specyfikę myśli Jana Pawła II w kwestii relacji wiary i rozumu w pracach Komisji celowo zaprogramowana została pewna dwutorowość badań. Osobiste zainteresowania Jana Pawła II koncentrowały się przede wszystkim na problemie człowieka i osoby jako nośnika specyficznych wartości. Nie bez znaczenia w tym kontekście jest także jego głębokie zainteresowanie i osobiste doświadczenie poezji i dramatu. Badanie wpływu myśli humanistycznej XX wieku na poglądy Jana Pawła II na człowieka i osobę stanowi jeden z nurtów prac komisji. Drugi nurt prac koncentruje się na innym istotnym dla współczesnego krajobrazu intelektualnego problemie relacji rozumu i wiary, w którym zaangażowanie Jana Pawła II wyróżniało się w sposób szczególny; mianowicie na problemie relacji pomiędzy wiarą i teologią a naukami empirycznym w kwestii poznawania człowieka i świata. Zaangażowanie to miało charakter stały i trwały, przyjmujący postać zinstytucjonalizowaną, a jego rezultatem było zainspirowanie wielu teoretycznych opracowań zagadnienia relacji nauka – wiara. Ponieważ współczesne rozumienie problemu relacja nauka – wiara posiada swoje głębokie korzenie w myśli XX wieku, a także w myśli końca wieku XIX, dlatego krytyczne zbadanie tego kontekstu i jego wpływu na sposób stawiania problemów przez Jana Pawła II oraz na proponowane przez niego rozwiązania stanowi drugi nurt prac Komisji. Te dwa główne nurty badań nie wykluczają podejmowania także innych istotnych w tym kontekście zagadnień, np. filozoficznego zagadnienia relacji poznania rozumowego i poznania przez wiarę.

Do współpracy z Komisją w realizacji postawionych celów zaproszeni są wszyscy kompetentni badacze wyznaczonej tematyki. Prace Komisji będą periodycznie publikowane.

Katedra Relacji Między Nauką a Wiarą

Charakterystyka problematyki badawczej:

Badania pracowników Katedry Relacji Między Nauką i Wiarą koncentrują się na analizie wzajemnych związków między naukami przyrodniczymi a wiarą religijną badaną w aspektach interesujących poznawczo dla filozofii nauki, filozofii religii i filozofii Boga. Szczególny nacisk kładzie się na problemy związków między uwarunkowaniami kulturowymi a racjonalną treścią teorii, względnie niezależną od kontekstu kulturowego. Zwraca się uwagę na interpretacje dotyczące biologicznej i kosmologicznej teorii ewolucji, zwłaszcza zaś socjobiologii oraz zasad antropicznych. Bada się zagadnienie kreacji w fizyce i teologii oraz ewolucję pojęcia racjonalności towarzyszącą metodologicznej ewolucji nauk przyrodniczych. Rozwijając we współpracy z Centrum Teologii i Nauk Przyrodniczych w Berkeley (California) oraz z Obserwatorium Watykańskim w Castel Gandolfo teistyczną interpretację ewolucjonizmu, szczególną uwagę poświęca się tzw. design argument. Wykluczając klasyczne antropomorfizmy argumentacji W. Paleya oraz nowe ujęcia fundamentalizmu kreacjonistycznego, poszukuje się krytycznych modyfikacji argumentu uwzględniających poziom współczesnej metodologii.

The Vatican Observatory

The Vatican Observatory is one of the oldest astronomical research institutions in the world. It has its headquarters at the papal summer residence in Castel Gandolfo, Italy, outside Rome. Its dependent research center, the Vatican Observatory Research Group, is hosted by Steward Observatory at the University of Arizona, Tucson, USA.

The Vatican Observatory Research Group operates the 1.8m Alice P. Lennon Telescope with its Thomas J. Bannan Astrophysics Facility, known together as the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT). This is located at the Mount Graham International Observatory (MGIO) in southeastern Arizona.

The European Society for the Study of Science And Theology

ESSSAT is a scholarly, non-confessional organization, based in Europe, which aims to promote the study of relationships between the natural sciences and theological views. ESSSAT has members from almost every European country as well as members from other continents. They have different confessional backgrounds, and may include believers as well as non-believers and atheists. As scientists, theologians, philosophers and historians they work on a better understanding of the interactions between two of the most powerful human pursuits, namely religion and science.

Ian Ramsey Centre

The Ian Ramsey Centre is part of the Theology Faculty in the University of Oxford. It has the special aim of promoting high quality teaching and research in the exciting field of science and religion. Within the University the Centre runs a regular seminar series, bringing scientists, philosophers and theologians together to explore interests they have in common. The seminars are open to students and informed members of the public. In addition, the Centre sponsors regional conferences to encourage new networks through which connections between theology and the sciences can be explored. International workshops are organised to enhance the quality of courses on science and religion that are taught worldwide.

The Centre began its work, attached to St Cross College, Oxford, in 1985. It was named after Ian Ramsey, an Oxford Professor of the Philosophy of Religion and later Bishop of Durham, who, until his death in 1972, was particularly effective in communicating with experts from a wide range of disciplines, inspiring them to work together on the problems raised for theology and ethics by developments in science, technology and medicine. As a result of his experience he became convinced that a permanent centre was needed for enquiry into these inter-disciplinary areas. With the Centre were (are) associated among other Dr. Arthur Peacocke, Prof. John Hedley Brooke.

The International Society for Science & Religion

ISSR was founded in 2002 under the inaugural presidency of mathematical physicist and Anglican priest Sir John Polkinghorne. The Presidency subsequently passed to Professor George Ellis and then to Sir Brian Heap. The current President is Professor John Hedley Brooke.

Our central aim is the facilitation of dialogue between the two academic disciplines of science and religion, one of the most important current areas of debate in terms of understanding the nature of humanity. This includes both the enhancement of the profile of the science-religion interface in the public eye, as well as the safeguarding of the quality and rigour of the debate in the more formal, academic arena.

While maintaining rigorous qualifications for membership (membership is through nomination by existing members only) the Society has now grown to over 140 members, including many of the leading scholars in the science and religion field. Indeed the last two presidents, George Ellis, a theoretical cosmologist and Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Cape Town, and John Polkinghorne, are both recipients of the Templeton Prize for Progress Toward Research or Discoveries about Spiritual Realities – the world’s best-known religion prize, awarded each year to a living person to encourage and honour those who advance spiritual matters.

Membership of the society is truly universal: the society incorporates, and welcomes, representatives from a variety of faith traditions including Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, and Islam in addition to Christianity. Membership is also widely distributed geographically, with representatives from countries as diverse as South Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa as well as from Europe and America.

Nominations for membership of ISSR are made on the basis of three categories of achievement. These categories are as follows: Major contribution (e.g. books) to the field of science/religion; or Excellent standing in one of the relevant areas (science, religion, philosophy) together with sustained interest in or support of the science/religion debate; or Demonstration of excellent organizational and entrepreneurial skills within the science/religion arena.

In 1972, informal consultations began in Oxford between a group of scientists, theologians, and clergy who were concerned to relate their scientific knowledge and methods of study to their religious faith and practice. This group, gradually increasing in size, met annually.

It was decided at a meeting in Durham, in 1975, to inaugurate the SCIENCE AND RELIGION FORUM to enable further discussion of the complex issues that arise at the interaction between scientific understanding and religious thought. Such issues need close attention and continuing re-assessment. Together with the social and ethical decisions demanded by scientific and technological advances, these issues have formed the subject of the Forum’s meetings since that date.

The Forum received charitable status in 1994. In 2005 the Science and Religion Forum merged with the Christ and the Cosmos Initiative. (The latter had been founded by the Revd Bill Gowland, a past President of the Methodist Conference, with the intention of bringing the latest knowledge of scientific thinking within the orbit of the enquiring layperson.) The membership of the Forum has been steadily increasing over the years and now stands in excess of 360.

The Institute on Religion in an Age of Science

IRAS is a non-denominational, independent society with three purposes:

– to promote creative efforts leading to the formulation, in the light of contemporary
knowledge, of effective doctrines and practices for human welfare;
– to formulate dynamic and positive relationships between the concepts developed by
science and the goals and hopes of humanity expressed through religion;
– to state human values and contemporary knowledge in such universal and valid terms
that they may be understood by all peoples, whatever their cultural background and
experience, and provide a basis for world-wide cooperation.

We at IRAS take the natural world seriously as a primary source of meaning. Our quest is informed and guided by the deepening and evolving understandings fostered by scientific inquiry.

From here, our quests for meaning take us in divergent directions. For some, the natural world and its emergent manifestations in human experience and creativity are the focus of exploration. Some go on to encounter and celebrate the sacred in such explorations. For some, understandings of the natural world are interwoven with understandings inherent in various religious traditions, generating additional paths of exploration and encounter. As a result, we articulate our emerging orientations with many voices, voices that are harmonious in that we share a common sense of place and gratitude.

We acknowledge as well a shared set of values and concerns pertaining to peace, justice, dignity, cultural and ecological diversity, and planetary sustainability. Although we may differ as to how these concerns are best addressed, we are committed to participating in their resolution.

The Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences

CTNS is an international non-profit organization dedicated to research, teaching and public service. The central scientific focus of CTNS is on developments in physics, cosmology, evolutionary biology, and genetics, with additional topics in the neurosciences, the environmental sciences, and mathematics. With regard to the theological task, CTNS engages in both Christian and multi-religious reflection. The Christian theological agenda focuses on the various doctrinal loci of systematic theology. The multi-religious agenda attends primarily to theological issues arising from the engagement between the sciences and religious traditions such as Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, and indigenous spiritualities.

In partnership with Taylor & Francis, a division of Routledge publishing, CTNS publishes the journal Theology and Science. CTNS members receive this peer-reviewed journal as a benefit of membership. Zygon Center for Religion and Science

The Zygon Center is located at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC). It is dedicated to relating religious traditions and the best scientific knowledge in order to gain insight into the origins, nature, and destiny of humans and their environment. The purpose of the Center is to bring together scientists, theologians, and other scholars to discuss and carry out research on basic questions and issues of human concern.

The Zygon Center sponsors three academic courses (offered through LSTC) each year: the Epic of Creation, the Future of Creation, and the Advanced Seminar in Religion and Science. ZCRS also sponsors conferences, symposia, and workshops throughout the year. An ongoing project is the HIV/AIDS Workshop for Medical and Religious Professionals. The Lumen Christi Institute

Founded in 1997 by Catholic Scholars at the University of Chicago, The Lumen Christi Institute brings together thoughtful Catholics and others interested in the Catholic tradition and makes available to them the wisdom of the Catholic spiritual, intellectual, and cultural traditions. Now in its eleventh year of operation, the Lumen Christi Institute continues to work toward leavening American higher education with future leaders better educated and formed in Catholic faith and thought.

The Institute’s programs aim to complement the secular education of faculty and students by fostering a rich Catholic culture and supporting Catholic intellectual dialogue at colleges and universities. As an academic and scholarly center the Lumen Christi Institute sponsors events that revolve around three core programs, the University Program in Catholic Thought, the Catholic Scholars Program, and the Cultural Forum.

The University Program in Catholic Thought encourages students and faculty at the University of Chicago to more deeply engage the Catholic intellectual and spiritual traditions by hosting visiting fellows and by offering lectures, colloquia, non-credit courses, and other events.

The Catholic Scholars Program develops teams of scholars to generate a renewed Catholic tradition in various fields of study. The initiative is designed to nurture the next generation of Catholic college and university teachers through conferences and other events for Catholic faculty and graduate students from across the United States and internationally.

The Lumen Christi Institute Cultural Forum seeks to engage the church, the academy, and the public as a means of promoting the evangelization of culture called for by Pope John Paul II. Events in this program have included discussions of law and culture, Catholic social thought and the economy, religion and secular culture in Europe, school choice, and Catholic education.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is committed to encourage -from a perspective of faith -conversation about issues facing our society and church related to science and technology.

The ELCA Alliance for Faith, Science & Technology assists this church in carrying out its mission at the intersection of faith and science and technology

The ELCA Alliance for Faith, Science, and Technology is an Independent Organization of the ELCA dedicated to expanding awareness and promoting conversation about the implications of science and technology for Christian faith and life. The membership includes over a thousand ELCA scientists, science teachers, clergy and other interested lay people.
The Alliance’s activities are directed by a volunteer Steering Committee that meets on a monthly basis. The Alliance has challenged and assisted the church to understand, discuss, and act on the implications of science and technology for Christian life in many ways. It has made sponsored the development of resources and education events such as sample worship materials, the 1997 Rediscovering Cosmos Conference at Syracuse University, last September’s Sunday Scientist Symposium, and has provided for the ongoing publication of the newsletter Covalence. The Alliance also participates in the Ecumenical Roundtable, an annual meeting of denominational groups from the U.S. and Canada to discuss faith and science issues and to share resources. These groups include: United Church of Christ, Presbyterian, United Methodist, Episcopalian, and Lutheran (ELCA). The Alliance has a working relationship with churchwide offices through the ELCA Interunit Staff Team under the auspices of the Program Unit for Church in Society.

The American Scientific Affiliation (ASA)

is a fellowship of men and women of science and disciplines that can relate to science who share a common fidelity to the Word of God and a commitment to integrity in the practice of science. ASA was founded in 1941 and has grown significantly since that time. The stated purpose of the ASA is „to investigate any area relating Christian faith and science” and „to make known the results of such investigations for comment and criticism by the Christian community and by the scientific community.”

Die Karl-Heim-Gesellschaft

Die Karl-Heim-Gesellschaft widmet sich der Frage, was wissenschaftliches Denken und christlicher Glauben einander zu sagen haben. Wir fördern das interdisziplinäre Gespräch zwischen christlicher Theologie und den Wissenschaften. Wir bieten Orientierung in diesem spannenden Konfliktfeld für alle Interessierten.

Fachwissenschaftler, Akademiker in verschiedenen Berufen und andere Interessierte finden sich in der Karl-Heim-Gesellschaft zusammen, um in den Fragen und Diskussionen zur Beziehung zwischen dem christlichen Glauben und den modernen Wissenschaften gründliche Orientierung und Klärung zu erarbeiten und zu vermitteln. Die Karl-Heim-Gesellschaft läßt sich in ihrer Arbeit vom biblischen Offenbarungszeugnis leiten.

Die überkonfessionelle Karl-Heim-Gesellschaft wurde 1974 in Freudenstadt (Schwarzwald) gegründet und als gemeinnütziger Verein in das Vereinsregister des Amtsgerichts Freudenstadt eingetragen. Sie finanziert ihre Arbeit im wesentlichen aus den Spenden ihrer Mitglieder und Freunde.

Ciencia, Razón y Fe

El Grupo de Investigación sobre Ciencia, Razón y Fe (CRYF) se ha constituido en la Universidad de Navarra con objeto de promover el estudio interdisciplinar de cuestiones en las que se entrecruzan las áreas de ciencias, filosofía y teología. Aunque formalmente constituido en el año 2002, su origen se remonta a una serie de reuniones interdisciplinares informales mantenidas por sus miembros desde tres años antes (junto con otros profesores). En este momento, sus campos de interés abarcan los temas siguientes: origen del universo, evolucionismo, orden, complejidad y finalidad, naturaleza y persona, ciencia y verdad y ciencia y religión. El Grupo tiene encomendado su trabajo al patrocinio de San Alberto Magno.

Specializzazione in „Scienza e Filosofia”

Facoltà di Filosofia, Pontificia Università Gregoriana, Roma

Lo scopo della Specializzazione è di integrare lo studio della filosofia con recenti sviluppi in campo scientifico. I mutamenti in corso nella scienza contemporanea permettono oggi di collegare aree che si sono separate in tempi moderni. In particolare, saranno considerate le implicazioni delle scienze naturali contemporanee per la filosofia e per la nostra comprensione di Dio.

Specificamente, l’attività filosofica della Specializzazione corre su tre binari paralleli: (1) una filosofia della scienza in senso tradizionale, (2) un’investigazione sulla conoscenza in generale e sulla conoscenza scientifica in particolare, con speciale riguardo ai nuovi meccanismi di spiegazione scientifica, (3) una filosofia dell’ente naturale che porti a una corretta integrazione di problematiche scientifiche attuali e filosofiche tradizionali.

La specializzazione “Scienza e Filosofia” della Pontificia Università Gregoriana è parte di un più vasto progetto di dialogo tra scienza, filosofia e teologia, patrocinato dal Pontificio Consiglio della Cultura  e supportato economicamente dalla John Templeton Foundation. Tale progetto, denominato Science, Theology, and The Ontological Quest (STOQ) comprende sei Università Pontificie, la Gregoriana, la Lateranense, la Regina Apostolorum, l’Angelicum, il Santa Croce e l’Università Salesiana.

Il Progetto STOQ II (Scienza, Teologia e la Questione Ontologica)

E’ fondato sulla collaborazione di tre Università Pontificie di Roma: la Lateranense, la Gregoriana e l’Ateneo Regina Apostolorum. Da quest’anno, altre tre Università Pontificie – la S.Tommaso d’Aquino, la Salesiana e la Santa Croce – hanno cominciato a collaborare al Progetto STOQ II. E’ coordinato dal Pontificio Consiglio della Cultura con il supporto della John Templeton Foundation. E’ finalizzato allo sviluppo del dialogo fra Scienza, Filosofia e Teologia, per confrontare la visione cristiana del mondo, dell’uomo e e della società con le principali sfide che nascono in campo teoretico, etico e culturale dallo sviluppo attuale delle scienze.

E’ concepito per svilupparsi in tre anni (dal 2003 al 2006), attraverso tre differenti programmi di studio e di ricerca nelle università coinvolte nel progetto. Gli studenti possono seguire i corsi del Progetto STOQ in tutte queste università. Questi corsi possono essere riconosciuti e inseriti nei piani di studio, previo accordo con i rispettivi decani. E’ diretto a studenti, scienziati, filosofi, teologi e a tutti coloro che sono interessati ad approfondire le basi razionali della propria fede, o ad esplorare la possibilità di essere credenti all’inizio del Terzo Millennio.

Le Réseau Blaise Pascal (Sciences, Cultures et Foi)

, créé en avril 2001, est constitué de plus d’une vingtaine de groupes francophones d’inspiration chrétienne qui travaillent sur la question « Sciences, Cultures et Foi. » Les membres du réseau sont actifs dans l’enseignement et la recherche dans les domaines scientifiques (Universités, Grandes Ecoles, CNRS, INSERM), philosophiques ou théologiques (Facultés de Philosophie et de Théologie). Laïcs, diacres, pasteurs ou prêtres, ils sont pour beaucoup d’entre eux engagés dans le service des Eglises chrétiennes comme philosophes, théologiens et enseignants. Parmi les groupes et instances affiliées dont plusieurs membres font partie du réseau Blaise Pascal, on trouve, entre autres, l’association Foi et Culture Scientifique de Gif sur Yvette, le groupe Albert le Grand des Dominicains, l’Association des Scientifiques Chrétiens, la Mission de France, la Faculté de Théologie de Lyon, le Centre Sèvres de Paris, l’Institut Catholique de Toulouse. Le réseau est animé par une équipe de coordination dont l’objectif essentiel est de favoriser l’échange d’informations entre les groupes et de préparer une rencontre tous les deux ans en alternance avec le congrès de l’ESSSAT (European Society for the Study of Science and Theology). Il s’ensuit que cette structure de coordination devient l’interface française, voire francophone avec l’ESSSAT, avec en particulier Bernard Michollet comme représentant.

Dialog Theologie und Naturwissenschaften. Diese Webseite richtet sich an Personen, die an dem Thema „Theologie und Naturwissenschaften” interessiert sind oder sich bereits mit dem Thema beschäftigt haben. Sie ist ein Angebot der Evangelischen Akademie im Rheinland (Bonn), in Kooperation mit dem Gesprächskreis „Theologie und Naturwissenschaften” an der Kirchlichen Hochschule Wuppertal/Bethel und dem Forum Grenzfragen. Die Redaktion liegt in den Händen von Andreas Losch, Geschäftsführer des Gesprächskreises, verantwortlich von Seiten der Akademie ist ihr Direktor Dr. Frank Vogelsang.

Zum Themenfeld „Theologie und Naturwissenschaften” gehören eine ganze Reihe von Unterthemen. Eine erste Auswahl ohne Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit stellen wir hier vor. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 1995 Templeton Prize, and the 2002 Michael Faraday Prize from the Royal Society

Association des Scientifiques Chrétiens

Association des Scientifiques Chrétiens – Créée en 1998, elle regroupe des Scientifiques qui veulent réfléchir ensemble sur les défis de la Science vis-à-vis de la foi ; et témoigner qu’il n’y a pas d’antinomie entre les sciences et la foi chrétienne. L’Association, membre de l’Académie Catholique de France , est affiliée au Réseau Blaise Pascal.
Nos motivations:
1. Aider chacun des membres à faire le lien entre sa culture scientifique et ses convictions religieuses.
2. Devoir de témoigner au sein de la société qu’il n’y a pas de contradiction entre les sciences et la foi chrétienne. Face au laïcisme militant des milieux médiatiques, nous affirmons que la foi et la science ne peuvent pas ętre opposées l’une à l’autre, chacune ayant sa propre autonomie.
3. Dans notre société matérialiste et blasée, sachons nous émerveiller devant les splendeurs de l’infiniment petit, de l’infiniment grand et la beauté de la création.

Réseau des scientifiques évangéliques

À l’occasion du colloque «L’âme et le cerveau: l’enjeu des neurosciences» organisé par la Faculté libre de théologique évangélique (Vaux-sur-Seine) le 28 et 29 mars 2008, les Groupes bibliques universitaires lancent le «Réseau des scientifiques évangéliques» qui rassemble professionnels et étudiants des filières scientifiques. Ce Réseau permet à des scientifiques chrétiens de rencontrer d’autres chrétiens engagés dans la recherche, l’enseignement et les études des sciences pour qu’ensemble, ils puissent:
– élaborer une vision chrétienne de la nature, de la portée et des limites de la pratique scientifique
– débattre des questions qui se posent à l’interface entre science et foi
– réfléchir aux enjeux éthiques, sociaux et environnementaux des sciences et de leurs applications techniques
– mieux articuler leur pratique scientifique et leur engagement religieux
– s’encourager à être témoins du Christ dans leur milieu professionnel
– rendre disponible au public une réflexion évangélique rigoureuse sur les interactions entre science et foi.
Les étudiants participant à ce réseau pourront en particulier profiter du contact avec des scientifiques expérimentés pour faire face aux interrogations nouvelles que leurs études engendrent par rapport à leur foi. De cette façon, ils feront le pont entre pratique scientifique et foi évangélique et prépareront leur carrière professionnelle dans une perspective chrétienne.

Le réseau est ouvert à tout chrétien évangélique à formation scientifique ou en cours d’études des sciences, ainsi qu’à des personnes qui ont un intérêt professionnel particulier dans ce domaine, en particulier aux théologiens.

Chaire Science et Religion, Université catholique de Lyon

La Chaire Science et Religion est une chaire qui a pour but de développer un programme d’enseignement et de recherche sur les rapports entre science et religion.

Ses objectifs sont triples :
– Formation intiale en Philosophie et en Théologie
– Formation continue (sessions en direction de l’enseignement catholique et des responsables d’Eglise)
– Formation par la Recherche

La chaire propose également des conférences grand public et une journée d’étude annuelle qui permettra de présenter les avancées des travaux du laboratoire de recherche composé de philosophes, scientifiques et théologiens.
